Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies

Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies (DPCS) seeks to impart candidates with skills and knowledge in peace studies and conflict studies. The program will offer courses in the areas of peace and conflict studies to enable students to become effective negotiators, mediators and arbitrators. It introduces students to concepts, ideas and theories on peace and conflict, and prepares them for careers as middle level workers as well as further education in other fields. The diploma program will  expose students to the complexity and variety of peace and conflict studies at local, national and regional levels and internationally. Students are given the necessary tools to understand and critically study and analyze conflict situations and how to deal with them.

The students will evaluate the merits of particular strategies of creating peace and resolution of conflict in order to facilitate development. The program equips students with necessary skills for critical thinking and robust imagination, good decision-making, administration, research, professional reading and writing, and capacity to fit in any career path in a quickly changing world, as well as helping in solving some of the development problems in the country. Besides proving training in the areas of peace and conflict studies the diploma program will also serve as a preparation for bachelor degree in other universities.

  • Analyze, understand and apply various approaches to peace and views as expressed in theory and their practical application to political, administrative, diplomacy and international relations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: (DIPLOMA IN PEACE AND CONFLICT STUDIES)

A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements:

Either

  1. Be a holder of South Sudan Secondary Certificate with a minimum of 60% or equivalent

OR

  1. Be a holder of IGCSE Division III

OR

  1. Be a holder of a certificate with credit pass from a recognize institution

OR

  1. Be a holder of professional Certificate in a relevant discipline from the institution recognized by the Ramciel Institute of Technology

OR

  1. Be a holder of any other qualification accepted by the Ramciel Institute of Technology as equivalent to any of the above.

IN ADDITION, CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

Compulsory Subjects
English  
In addition, a pass in FIVE (5) other selected subjects. (Excluding Life Orientation)

 

At least 50% in THREE fundamental subjects including English,

 

At least 60% in overall selected subjects

    
Selection Procedure:

Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not automatically guarantee acceptance. It depends on the number of clusters subjects.

A points system is used for admission to the Diploma in Business Information Technology

Applicants are selected in order of merit, based on the subject list above, on a first come first-served basis.

Applicants who meet the minimum requirements but whose overall points rating could put them at risk could still be placed on the extended curriculum programme as they would be considered under prepared and at risk of not coping with the demands of the regular programme.

The extended curriculum programme, through a purposeful and structured set of learning experiences will provide these students with the academic foundations necessary for them to succeed on the regular programme.
